Yesteryear, our founding fathers came to Craighead via the rail way system and steam engines, to farm cotton, raise cattle, and get an education. The successful Hunter family was honored with having the town name changed to Huntersville, after them, and soon was incorporated in 1873.
Over the years Huntersville continued to grow and evolve from “mill town” into the wonderful town we know and love today. We’ve watched it grow as national and international companies like Rubbermaid, Irwin Industrial Tools, GE Polymerland, McGuire Nuclear Station, Presbyterian Hospital, and Joe Gibbs Racing moved here to do business.
We’ve enjoyed the many recreation facilities like Canipe and Bradford parks, and Latta Plantation. We watched as they created the 520 miles of shoreline we call Lake Norman, surrounded by beautiful homes, golf courses, and shopping while preserving the farmland and rich historical cultural of the past.
Old Huntersville NC real estate that you can still see today; is the HughTorrance House and Store, which operated from 1805-1825, and has monthly tours. Or the most famous Huntersville home for sale, The Ransom House (built for the Hunter-Ransom family in 1913) and kept in the family, until it sold in auction for $476,000 in 2006 to the Raines family.
